When Jacobson's longtime girlfriend and star cover girl, Melanie Cain, ended their relationship and moved across the hall into the apartment of restaurateur Jack Tupper, a bitter feud erupted. After offering Tupper $100,000 to leave town, Jacobson ambushed, stabbed, bludgeoned, and shot Tupper before attempting to dispose of his body in a burning crate. McCurtin and Carpozi trace the murder, the sensational trial, and Jacobson's notorious 1980 escape from the Brooklyn House of Detention while disguised as an attorney.

Why You'll Love This Book

A gritty, fast-paced piece of vintage 1980s true crime, Murder in the Penthouse offers a fascinating lens into tabloid journalism, jet-set crime, and Manhattan high life.
