An Advanced Watercolor Instruction Guide to Liquid Pigment Pouring, Masking, and Glazing

Watercolor artist Jan Fabian Wallake details the technique of pouring liquid watercolor pigments directly onto stretched paper, bypassing traditional brushwork to create vibrant, luminous color fields. The instruction book explains how to mix fluid pigment solutions, prepare masking fluid boundaries, and control wet-into-wet color movement across stretched 140lb and 300lb watercolor paper.

Featuring 30 specialized techniques and five complete step-by-step painting demonstrations, the guide demonstrates how to combine poured background washes with selective masking, value layering, and localized brushwork. Wallake covers color theory, value planning, masking removal, and edge refinement for creating floral, landscape, and abstract compositions.

Why You’ll Love This Book

Featuring 30 techniques and five step-by-step demonstrations, Jan Fabian Wallake provides clear technical instruction on pouring liquid watercolor washes. An indispensable studio guide for painters looking to master pigment-pouring methods.
