The Second Book of the Beast Dark Fantasy Novel of Shapeshifters and Human Captivity

Continuing the dark fantasy saga begun in The Orphan, the mysterious shapeshifting beast creature—half golden bear, half predatory cat—lives in human form as young Werner in 1930s rural America. After breaking an ancient law of solitude, the creature is captured by humans who fail to realize its true supernatural nature.

Imprisoned on a remote farm, the beast faces an agonizing internal conflict: its predatory animal instincts demand a violent slaughter to escape, while its growing human empathy fosters deep affection for its captors.

Why You’ll Love This Book

Robert Stallman crafts a haunting, lyrical exploration of dual identity, primal instinct, and human vulnerability. A rare cult classic in dark fantasy for fans of werewolf lore and supernatural fiction.
