A Classic Planetary Fantasy of Frontier Colonists, Alien Shadows, and Ancient Wilderness

On the frontier colony world of Voor, human pioneers attempt to build a new civilization amidst the ruins of an ancient, unknown alien species. Their settlement is terrorized by "Shadow Death"—a mysterious, lethal force that sweeps out of the wilderness without warning, leaving behind charred lands and transformed victims.

Wanderer Ilya Trend, who survived a previous Shadow attack that claimed his family, joins forces with a young healer named Simsa and his son Bard. Venturing deep into Voor's unmapped interior, the unlikely companions must brave alien wildlife and decode ancient ruins to stop the Shadow before it eradicates the human colony.

Why You’ll Love This Book

Grand Master Andre Norton delivers an atmospheric planetary romance combining wilderness survival, alien lore, and frontier adventure. Essential reading for fans of Anne McCaffrey, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Mercedes Lackey.
