A Speculative Contemporary YA Novel of Death-Cast Notifications, Last Friends, and Final Hours

In an alternate modern-day New York City where a mysterious organization named Death-Cast notifies individuals ("Deckers") on the day they will die, teenagers Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio receive their midnight phone calls on September 5.

Connecting through the "Last Friend" smartphone app, shy Mateo and hot-headed Rufus meet to spend their final twenty-four hours together. Exploring Manhattan, visiting loved ones, and sharing deep vulnerability, the duo falls in love during their single day together.
