A Virginia True Crime Investigation of Jens Soering, Elizabeth Haysom, and the Haysom Murders

In March 1985, prominent socialites Derek and Nancy Haysom were brutally murdered inside their home in Bedford County, Virginia. Suspicion eventually focused on their daughter, University of Virginia honors student Elizabeth Haysom, and her boyfriend, Jens Soering, the son of a German diplomat.

Journalist Ken Englade chronicles the couple's international flight across Europe and Asia, their 1986 arrest in London, and the complex diplomatic extradition process. The narrative covers the high-profile Virginia trials where Soering and Haysom presented conflicting testimonies regarding who wielded the murder weapon.

Why You’ll Love This Book

Ken Englade crafts a gripping account of privilege, obsession, and international legal maneuvering. Featuring crime scene forensics and extradition tradecraft, this book is perfect for readers of Joe McGinniss, Ann Rule, and Carlton Stowers.
