A Holly Keller Mouse Picture Book of Birthday Expectations and Friendship

On the morning of his birthday, Henry the mouse expects everything to go perfectly at his party. He imagines winning all the party games, blowing out every candle, and eating the biggest slice of cake. When the festivities begin and his friends win the games instead, Henry becomes disappointed. Through gentle encouragement from his mother and playful moments with his guests, Henry learns to let go of perfection and enjoy celebrating with his friends.

Why You’ll Love This Book

Holly Keller captures common childhood emotions around birthday expectations with relatable humor and expressive mouse illustrations. A great picture book for preschool storytimes and discussions about managing expectations.
