Murder In The Penthouse by Peter Mccurtin

Peter McCurtin and George Carpozi Jr.'s Sensational 1980 True-Crime Account of the Buddy Jacobson Murder Case

First published in 1980 as a paperback original by Tower Publications, Murder in the Penthouse is a thrilling, unvarnished true-crime account written by pulp thriller author Peter McCurtin in collaboration with veteran New York Post investigative reporter George Carpozi Jr.

The book reconstructs one of late-1970s Manhattan's most scandalous crimes: the high-society murder involving Howard "Buddy" Jacobson, a wealthy horse trainer and founder of a prestigious live-in modeling agency on New York's Upper East Side. When Jacobson's longtime girlfriend and star cover girl, Melanie Cain, ended their relationship and moved across the hall into the apartment of restaurateur Jack Tupper, a bitter feud erupted. After offering Tupper $100,000 to leave town, Jacobson ambushed, stabbed, bludgeoned, and shot Tupper before attempting to dispose of his body in a burning crate. McCurtin and Carpozi trace the murder, the sensational trial, and Jacobson's notorious 1980 escape from the Brooklyn House of Detention while disguised as an attorney.
