A Phyllis Root Counting Board Book of Marsh Animals, Rhyming Sounds, and Teamwork

When a duck steps into deep marsh muck and gets stuck, she calls out for help. Author Phyllis Root introduces a cumulative counting progression from one to ten as various marsh creatures step forward: two fish splish, three mooses chomp, four crickets hop, five frogs plop, six skunks trudge, seven snails glide, eight possums clamber, nine snakes slither, and ten dragonflies buzz, all joining forces to pull the duck free with a loud "SPLOOSH!"

Why You’ll Love This Book

Jane Chapman's bright watercolor illustrations and Phyllis Root's rhythmic sound-effect-filled text encourage interactive counting for toddlers. A durable board book choice for lap reading and early math skills.
