A Contemporary Literary Novel of University Librarians, Adult Female Friendships, and Visiting Etiquette
Forty-year-old university librarian May Attaway lives a quiet, solitary life in a small college town, residing with her father and tending her garden. After receiving a paid sabbatical from her university, May embarks on a deliberate journey to visit four long-held female friends across the country—a professor, an architect, a stay-at-home mother, and an artist.
As a guest in each friend's home, May confronts the realities of adult life, physical presence, and middle-age solitude. Kane examines female friendships in the digital age and the quiet effort required to maintain meaningful human connections.
Why You’ll Love This Book
Jessica Francis Kane delivers a quiet, witty contemporary novel celebrating adult female friendship and presence. Essential reading for fans of Gail Honeyman, Elizabeth Strout, and Ann Patchett.
