An Elizabeth Winthrop Rhyming Picture Book Illustrated by William Joyce

Author Elizabeth Winthrop pairs rhythmic, rhyming verse with early-career illustrations by acclaimed artist William Joyce. The story inventories footwear for every activity—from sturdy work boots, shiny dress shoes, and squeaky sneakers to roller skates, snow boots, and sandals. Each page spread depicts active children trying on footwear, stomping through mud, dancing, and playing, concluding with the comfortable realization that the best shoes of all are bare feet.

Why You’ll Love This Book

William Joyce's lively, vintage-style artwork pairs with Elizabeth Winthrop's bouncing cadence to engage toddlers and preschoolers in identifying clothing and movement. A fun choice for early childhood storytimes and footwear rhymes.
