Johnny Hart's Classic 1970 Fawcett Collection of the Iconic Newspaper Comic Strip

First published in 1970 by Fawcett Gold Medal, Take a Bow, B.C. is a delightful vintage mass-market paperback collection celebrating the sharp wit and distinctive artistic style of legendary American cartoonist Johnny Hart.

Set in a surreal, prehistoric wasteland, the collection gathers Hart's syndicated daily newspaper strips from the late 1960s. The book follows an unforgettable cast of cavemen—including the naive protagonist B.C., the cynical intellectual Peter, the inventor Thor, the legless poet Wiley, and the wild, monosyllabic Grog—as they navigate prehistoric life. Blending dry philosophical observations and timeless slapstick with a quirky cast of talking anteaters, uncooperative clams, and extinct fauna, Hart's clean linework and minimalist gags offer a clever, satirical mirror on modern human nature.

Why You'll Love This Book

A prized find for collectors of vintage newspaper comics and mid-century humor paperbacks, Take a Bow, B.C. captures one of the most popular comic strips of the 20th century at its prime. Readers and collectors who love classic syndicated strips and humor by authors like Charles M. Schulz (Peanuts), Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey), Brant Parker (The Wizard of Id), Hank Ketcham (Dennis the Menace), and Gary Larson (The Far Side) will thoroughly enjoy this volume.
