A Hugo and Nebula Award-Winning Sci-Fi Masterpiece of Alien Artefacts and Deep Space Exploration

Robinette "Bob" Broadhead is now a wealthy man living on Earth, undergoing psychological analysis with an AI psychoanalyst named Sigfrid. Recounting his past, Bob details his desperate gamble on Gateway—a hollow, abandoned asteroid space station left behind by the vanished alien civilization known as the Heechee.

Gateway houses hundreds of pre-programmed Heechee starships that human prospectors launch into the unknown void without understanding their destinations or return trajectories. Bob recounts his high-risk prospecting voyages into deep space, culminating in a harrowing mission near a black hole event horizon that brought him immense wealth at a devastating personal cost.

Why You’ll Love This Book

Grand Master Frederik Pohl's Hugo, Nebula, and Locus Award-winning classic seamlessly fuses hard science fiction space exploration with profound psychological study. Essential reading for fans of Arthur C. Clarke, Larry Niven, and Alastair Reynolds.
