Bob Shaw's ORBITSVILLE - winner of the British Science Fiction Award - introduced one of the most remarkable concepts in modern SF: an artificial world of immense size, built as a shell enclosing its sun, with a landmass equal to five billion Earths. In the two hundred years that passed after its discover, the majority of the human race emigrated there.
The question still remained - who built Orbitsville and why. For Garry Dallen back on the Semi-deserted Earth this was to become the ultimate answer to his personal quest for vengeance - a quest which took him across space to confront a cosmic enigma.
